    DAY 1: CAPE RAOUL

    SPECTACULAR DOLERITE CLIFFS

Today we walk to the first of our Capes
the stunning Cape Raoul in the Tasman National Park.
This Cape is our client’s favourite Cape,
with its dramatic dolerite sea cliffs.
An easier option is available for today’s walk.

    WALK ITINERARY

Be met in Hobart CBD by our guides for the transfer to start of the track in the Tasman National Park approximately 2-hour drive. Today we walk the first of the Three Capes, the dramatic Cape Raoul with its spectacular dolomite sea cliffs. The constantly changing terrain of this walk will enthral the walker and we may encounter along the way the local wildlife including wallabies, and blue, echidnas and blue-tongue lizards as well as the abundant bird life.

The walks begin as the trail meanders through beautiful eucalypts before it reaches the first lookout where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the stunning coastline and rugged cliffs. As the walk continues the photo opportunities and views just keep getting better and better. The views from the end of the walk are amazing and you may even hear the seals barking on the rocks at the base of the stone pillar below.

Afterwards, we return to our accommodation for the next 2 nights at Stewart Bay Lodge where we stay in deluxe spa chalets. Tonight enjoy fine dining in the superb 1830’s Restaurant overlooking the historic Port Arthur Site. Sit back and chat about the day’s adventure over dinner enjoying a menu featuring modern cuisine using local Tasmanian produce accompanied with Tasmanian wines. A great way to finish a fantastic day.

DAY 2: WATERFALL BAY TO FORTESCUE BAY

    WATERFALLS, RAINFOREST, CLIFFS & BEACHES

    You’ll love today’s walk with it’s ever-changing scenery
ranging from waterfalls to a fairytale rainforest. Along the way,
you’ll also enjoy spectacular coastal views of the stunning cliff
lines and waterfalls plunging down the rockfaces, Cape Hauy,
The Lanterns and Candlestick. Our final part of the walk
explores pristine beaches. Easier walking option available today.

    WALK ITINERARY

After breakfast and a briefing, we head to the stunning Waterfall Bay to see some of the peninsula’s most impressive geological features including a 200-metre waterfall that plunges into the sea. We start with a gentle climb through stringybark forest then disappear into the rainforest. This mossy fairyland is an absolute delight and one of the prettiest sections of the walk today. For the next 45 minutes, we climb 548 metres to Tatnels Hill, the highest point of this track, where we stop for a cuppa to enjoy the stunning views. From here the climbing eases and the trail winds downhill for some time. The frequent coastal views of dramatic towering sea cliffs along the way will impress even the most frequent traveller whilst wildflowers are abundant in certain times of the year. We pass pretty Bivouac and Canoe Bays en route to the stunning white sands of Fortescue Bay. Afterwards, we return to Stewarts Bay Lodge for fine dining at Gabriel’s overlooking the bay and chat about our day’s adventures over a glass of wine.

DAY 3: CAPE HAUY & CAPE PILLAR

CHOOSE FROM CAPE PILLAR HELICOPTER OR CRUISE

Today we get to experience two of the Capes in one day.
This morning we give our legs a rest and choose to either
see Cape Pillar by helicopter or wilderness cruise.  This Cape
alone usually takes 3 days to walk, so this is a fantastic way to
experience it. Afterwards, we walk spectacular Cape Hauy, the
    last of the Capes.

    WALK ITINERARY

It’s time to farewell Stewart Bay before heading off for Fortescue Bay on our last walk of the trip. We hike through the forest and coastal heath to Cape Hauy, the views along this entire walk are simply stunning. For those that walk out to the very end of the Cape, you’ll experience an up-close view of the famous off-shore sea stacks known as Totem Pole, The Candlestick and The Lanterns standing like silent sentinels.

    CAPE PILLAR HELICOPTER OR CRUISE

After our walk, you can choose how you would like to experience Cape Pillar, by choosing either a scenic helicopter rise or a wilderness cruise. Both are excellent choices. For those in the helicopter, after the morning’s walk, we’ll drive you to the Lavender Farm for a delicious lunch. The helicopter will pick you up from nearby and take you on your flight offering wonderful panoramas as you fly over the towering sea cliffs of Cape Pillar and out to remote Tasman Island with its exposed lighthouse. Those who choose the wilderness cruise, after lunch you board the boat and get to experience Cape Pillar from sea level giving you a different sense of their grand scale. There’s also the chance you’ll spot dolphins, seal and sea lions. Afterwards, all the group come back together for the return journey back to Hobart. The end of a fabulous journey.
